Description
The Department for Medicaid Services (DMS) provides health care access for eligible low-income residents of Kentucky including children, families, pregnant women, the aged and the disabled as well as a number of programs and services directed at specific eligibility and medical needs. DMS strives each day to meet the mission of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to be a diverse and inclusive organization providing programs, services and supports that protect and promote the health and well-being of all Kentuckians and their communities.

The Medicaid/ Medicare Services Specialist II will administer the administrative regulations, legislation, policy and procedures, and federal regulations that are associated with the Division of Health Care Policy. This position will deal with exciting changes and policy decisions for most provider types and many programs in the Department for Medicaid Services.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Implementing changes to state and federal regulations, policy, and legislation to the operations of the Division;
  • Coordinating the changes to administrative regulations and policy created by the Department;
  • Overseeing the Policy and Procedure Manual for the Division;
  • Managing the data from research projects for use in policy and regulation changes; and
  • Coordinating legislative reviews for timely response.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Organizational skills;
  • Communication skills;
  • Experience with policy and procedure;
  • Experience with federal or state law;
  • Coordination experience; and
  • Ability to be skilled in Microsoft platforms.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Professional experience in public or business administration, political science, statistics, policy analysis, economics, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
