Job Summary


This position exists primarily to provide program support to the Regional Small Business Development Center (SBDC) program and the Workforce Solutions (WS) Department. General duties for the SBDC include performing client intake and referral, training coordination, grant reporting, financial reporting and ensuring the accuracy of client and training information in the SBDC reporting database. The purpose of this position is to work in collaboration with and receive work direction from the director of SBDC and Workforce Solutions to ensure that services are provided in an effective and efficient manner, program goals are achieved and reported per grant agreements; programs funds are spent according to grant agreements and various federal, state and college regulations, policies and procedures and to ensure program activities are documented according to program grant agreements. In addition, this position will assist the Workforce Solutions department with course scheduling, event planning, training coordination, billing, student registration, program marketing, managing trainer contracts and revenue income according to CLC policy and other administrative activities to support their continued success and growth.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

  • Data entry and database management skills sufficient to enter data accurately then retrieve and manipulate the data into reports.
  • Word Processing skills sufficient to create, format, edit, print, and save a variety of documents.
  • Spreadsheet skills sufficient to create, manipulate and analyze information in a computer spreadsheet.
  • Communication skills in English (speaking, writing and reading orally) sufficient to understand and carry out oral and written instructions accurately and to work with a variety of individuals.
  • Math skills sufficient to accurately prepare quarterly reports and maintain budget records (add, subtract, multiply, divide and calculate percentages).
  • Customer Service Skills sufficient to work with others in a respectful and professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to develop and implement work procedures for the SBDC and Workforce Solutions Departments.
  • Basic knowledge of office procedures sufficient manage a modern business office.
  • Basic knowledge of business development and start-up resources.
  • Knowledge of specialized terminology in business finance and accounting (e.g. profit, revenue, income statement, balance sheet, interest rate, loan principal) Basic business knowledge sufficient to identify and interpret basic business financial statements.
  • Experience in the development of administrative and programmatic procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic concepts related to business financing.
  • Knowledge of State SBDC MIS System (Outreach System’s Neoserra), and Microsoft Office applications, social media marketing tools.
  • Internet research skills sufficient to research business information using Google, Bing or other similar search engine.
  • Interpersonal skills to lead and direct others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work, ensure attention to detail, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information discretely.
  • Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision.
  • The applicant should demonstrate a knowledge of and interest in diverse populations.
  • Filing skills sufficient to file and retrieve printed and electronic information accurately and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of many different Workforce Solutions or Customized Training programs and State/Federal guidelines of the programs such as real estate, boilers and power limited licensing requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret Central Lakes College, MnSCU & ISRS policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of ISRS and Lumens registration systems.

Additional Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
