Summary of Work
This position coordinates family services to juvenile offenders under the jurisdiction of the Division of Juvenile Services through community programs. This position is to provide a high level of case management service to youth that have been adjudicated as delinquent. This position is the center piece within the Division of Juvenile Services for youth moving in and out of Foster homes, relative care and other guardian situations. as they work directly with all the services. This position will work to assist youth and families with School Districts, DHHS, Private Licensed Youth Placements, Law Enforcement, Juvenile and District Courts both on a local and Statewide basis.
Duties and Tasks
- Initiate training and participate in DHHS foster care Licensing rules and apply them to Division of Juvenile Services Policies and Procedures.
- Work Directly with Juvenile Corrections Specialists, Sr Juvenile Corrections Specialists and supervisors on the transition of youth in and out of Foster Homes while following State and Federal Rules.
- Ensure youths are being reviewed for placements with Foster Homes and coordinate safety and emergency planning with JCS and Foster parents
- Be on call for JCS and Foster parents in the event if the action at the lower level and the youth or foster parents need more support to resolve the conflict.
- Train Foster Parents JCS, Sr JCS on the importance of concurrent planning and provide on-going support to that team on safety planning.
- Work directly with Deputy Director of DJS, Supervisors on maintaining relationships with Foster Parents and the youth's families.
- Testify at hearings regarding youth's progress with Division of Juvenile Services Treatment Plan, recommendation for out of home care, continued need for treatment and rehabilitation and length of commitment.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, criminal justice, juvenile justice, or closely related field and five (5) years of work experience as a DJS Juvenile Corrections Specialist or seven (7) of work experience as a Family Foster Care Worker in North Dakota.
