The Mission of Idaho Correctional Industries (ICI) is teaching and strengthening work and life skills to minimum and medium security offenders to prepare them for a successful transition into society. Through successful training we help build lives, save the State of Idaho Tax Dollar Investments, and ultimately benefit society

If you have previously applied for Job Training Specialist at Correctional Industries or any other agency and are interested in the current opening then you must re-apply under this announcement. Previous scores will not be used. Hiring lists may be created from open competitive, IDOC Department Promotional, or Statewide promotional applicants. The applications may also be used for future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Daily time balancing
- Perform quality control and quality assurance inspections
- Issue material in Global Shop ERP system
- Create purchase requisitions and material movement requests for raw material and finished goods
- Maintain tool control and key control per IDOC policy - security
- Maintain accurate inventory – runs reports and performs physical counts
- Perform the offender training
- Log all training in the training program
- Complete trainee evaluation forms
- Follow APS requirements
- Equipment maintenance and operational knowledge/experience
- Maintain Institutional control per IDOC policy – security
- Produce products from Proofs (PDF etc)
- Interview, add or remove residents from the training program
- Associates Degree or Vocational Training Certification or equivalent experience in the specialty area
- Good knowledge of computers including use of MS Word, Excel, & Outlook
- Experience training or supervising others in a production environment, that includes training others to develop and enhance job skills
- Experience using tools and equipment specific to the assigned shops
- Willingness to work in a correctional facility
DESIRABLES:
- Possess Driver's License
- Working knowledge of global shop software
- Be willing to obtain a class A driver's license within first year of employment
To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:
- Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
- Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
- Having a history of law-abiding behavior
- Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI's, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment
- Have been convicted of Domestic Violence or similar types of violent behaviors
- Have a dishonorable discharge from military service
- Currently are using, dealing or are associated with illegal drugs
- Have close friends or relatives under IDOC care & custody where the vacancy exists
- Are currently under IDOC supervision or probation (must be released from IDOC supervision or probation for at least one year)
