70.1 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of permanent, contingent permanent, or 55 B/C service allocated to a Grade 18 or higher eligible for transfer and determined to be similar by Civil Service.

PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Based on the results of the canvass of the current eligible list for the Investigator 2 the Department may elect to make a provisional appointment to this position rather than a permanent appointment. If a provisional appointment is made, the appointed candidate will be required to compete in the next holding of the Investigator 2 exam and be reachable for appointment from the newly established eligible list.
The minimum qualifications for Provisional appointment are:

You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Investigator 1, Investigator 1 (Chinese Language), Investigator 1 (Korean Language), Investigator 1 (Spanish Language), Investigator, Investigator (Spanish Language), License Investigator 1, License Investigator 1 (Chinese Language),License Investigator 1 (Korean Language), License Investigator 1 (Spanish Language), Compensation Claims Investigator 1, or Rent Administration Investigator 1.

55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS:
Current permanent non-competitive state employees certified eligible for the 55 B/C program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55 B/C of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. To be considered, you must provide a copy of your letter of eligibility with your response.

FINGERPRINTING QUALIFICATIONS:
Appointment to this position may require that the candidate successfully undergo an investigative screening including a criminal history check.


Duties Description
The Investigator 2 duties in Division of Building Standards and Codes will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible to collect, review, audit, maintain data and supervise two Investigator 1 positions.
  • Required to independently perform investigative activities, to gather information and evidence, prepare written reports of findings regarding building safety inspectors and code enforcement officials, including local governments, as directed by their supervisor and supervise and assist two investigator 1 positions.
  • Investigations generally focus on single individuals or entities that are suspected of violating the requirements of 19 NYCRR Part 1203 or Part 1208. The Investigator 2 may also assist in assuring compliance with other program requirements as part of an investigation under the supervision of a Code Compliance Specialist 2, reviewing assigning cases or complaints from the public to determine the section of law, rule or regulation that applies and to identify the issues and the types of information needed.
