Job Description
The Division of Technology Services (DTS) has an opening for a great candidate on our IT Security team. The chosen candidate will perform working level Information Security technology related duties in the areas of cyber security, security forensic investigations and incidents response. With a strong commitment to integrity and excellence, you will specialize in forensic investigations, assisting clients in uncovering crucial evidence and providing forensic analysis. As part of our continuous growth, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Forensic Investigator to join our dynamic team.
This position may be eligible for remote work (must live in Utah) with at least 2 days in the office which is located at Taylorsville State Office Building 4315 S 2700 West Taylorsville, Utah.

Example of Duties

Conduct thorough forensic investigations by analyzing digital, physical, and documentary evidence.

Utilize specialized tools and techniques to extract, preserve, and analyze data from various sources, including computers, mobile devices, and other electronic media.

Document and maintain a chain of custody for all evidence collected during investigations.

Perform forensic analysis on computer systems, networks, and digital devices to identify potential security breaches, fraud, or unauthorized activities.

Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations based on analysis of evidence.

Provide testimony and assistance during legal proceedings as required.

Stay updated on the latest advancements in forensic investigation techniques and tools.

Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and legal professionals to ensure effective and efficient investigations.

Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines throughout the investigative process.
Typical Qualifications
-
Proven experience and/or the equivalent of higher education in Computer Forensics, Digital Forensics, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, or a related field.

Proven experience in conducting forensic investigations, preferably in a law enforcement agency, corporate environment, or private investigative firm.

Strong knowledge of computer systems, digital forensics tools, and techniques.

Proficiency in analyzing various types of digital evidence, such as computer files, network logs, email communications, and social media data.

Familiarity with industry-standard forensic software and hardware tools.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple cases simultaneously.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.

Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to forensic investigations.

Professional certifications in digital forensics are highly desirable.
