This is a Full-Time 40 Hour Weekly position with the Department of Social Services Human Services Center. For more information on the DSS, please visit https://dss.sd.us.

Summary:

This position coordinates, conducts, and screens potential admissions to SDHSC ensuring that admission procedures are in compliance with state statutes. This will include responding to referral sources, consulting with hospital staff, collecting and analyzing patient records and patient registration. The position works with a multi-disciplinary team and works closely with the psychiatric admissions officer, other admission social workers, and admission nurses.

This position works primarily Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm and will work a holiday rotation in cooperation with all other admission staff.

  • record keeping;
  • chemical dependency, psychiatric, and developmentally disabled populations.

  • develop cooperative and satisfactory contacts with clients, patients, relatives, physicians, social agencies, community officials, and other administrative officials;
  • write meaningful, concise, and accurate reports and correspondence;

  • maintain, review, and analyze medical records;
  • interpret laws and policies;
  • manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • discern the needs of the consumer to match services available;
  • obtain reliable information;
  • utilize various computer applications.

This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
