The ND Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (ND DOCR), North Dakota State Penitentiary (NDSP), has an exciting opportunity as a Correctional Case Manager in Bismarck, North Dakota. Summary of Work
Work involves case management to meet the needs of residents assigned to the unit; participating in operations and serving as second-in-command of the unit.
Duties performed at this level increase with more involvement in offender case planning, treatment, rehabilitation, and release planning. At this level, independence of action is increased with a corresponding decrease in the required consultation or review by a Program Manager.
Duties and Tasks
Maintain assigned caseload of residents living in the housing unit.
Communicate, evaluate, assess, or correct deficiencies in work, education, treatment, living habits and promote positive advancement of residents.
Supervise Correctional Officers providing security in the facility.
Conduct on-site drug/alcohol testing to determine offender usage.
Assist with monitoring all access and security of keys.
Assist with sell searches - complete searches of resident quarters and living units to ensure control of contraband and ensure safety and sanitation.
Interview residents, victims, and collateral sources with skills acquired through specialized interviewing techniques.
Complete an extensive criminal records check to determine resident’s prior record to include juvenile history.
Facilitate/Manage Programs.
Implement rehabilitation plans in areas such as family problems, crisis intervention, institutional adjustment, treatment, parole plans, pre-release, day to day living, and academic counseling.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a bachelor's degree and two years of work experience in corrections, law enforcement, security, or related military.
OR
High School diploma or GED and six years work experience in corrections, law enforcement, security, or related military, with at least four years of work experience in corrections. College level course work may replace experience requirements on a year for year basis, up to two years.
