Use your business savvy beyond traditional selling to be a part of business plan development, strategy creation, product positioning, and P&L management. In this role, you will have exposure to the full product spectrum from concept to commercialization and manage relationships with the world’s largest retailer – Walmart Inc. The position will be located in Bentonville, Arkansas. This is an individual contributor role.


Position Summary: The Business Development Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all company sales activities in assigned departments in Walmart, Sam’s Club and Dot Com. Maximize company sales & profitability while increasing market penetration. To manage items and relationships at WM/Sam’s to generate long-term, profitable sales growth for Rockline


Here's what your day will look like as a Business Development Director:

  • Responsible for customer-specific business development activities against assigned categories to accomplish company and customer goals.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships and rapport with all key internal and external customers.
  • Conduct market visits. Gather and communicate competitive intelligence on assigned items, and share findings with sales and marketing departments, and with the customer.
  • Work with cross-functional teams in monitoring daily inventory reports on assigned items to ensure a sufficient supply for the customer.
  • Analyze and maintain by-item shipment forecasts as needed on assigned items.
  • Initiate and lead artwork/packaging projects on assigned items with our Design and Marketing departments, including product positioning, design input, copywriting, & proofreading.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of business development or category management experience required. Experience calling on Walmart and/or Sam’s Club is required.
  • Private label experience preferred. Food or consumable experience preferred.
  • Experience with Walmart Retail Link and enterprise systems (such as JDE) preferred.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Requires the ability for cross-functional collaboration to achieve goals.
  • Experience working with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data sources to identify business needs, perform in-depth analysis, prepare & present findings to Management & the Customer with recommended action steps.
  • P&L management experience, negotiating contracts, BU/Dept. management experience, proven ability to marry customer/consumer needs with company capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers and Rockline management and associates concerning sales procedures.
  • Must be able to prioritize work and to meet deadlines.
