General Summary:
The Federal Government Business Development Manager will manage continued growth in direct support of the federal government agency vertical. Building on an existing base of clients, the successful candidate will create and make presentations, attend trade shows, develop and maintain relationships by persistent strategic contact, and arranging scheduled meetings with prospects and customers. New business development through email and telephone outreach, set appointments, warm calling, persistent follow-up, and ethical and professional sales techniques are critical to this position.
This position typically requires overnight travel of at least 2 nights a week and occasional weekend work for trade shows. Our ideal candidate will reside in the Oklahoma area; however, GovDeals may consider alternative locations. This is a remarkable opportunity for a proven challenger able to travel and consistently apply strategic selling experience and effort to a substantial marketplace.
Responsibilities:
  • Support clients and internal stakeholders ethically, enthusiastically and professionally
  • Use existing knowledge of Federal and/or Tribal government-sector sales and/or government procurement processes to successfully develop, manage and grow relationships
  • Work independently to manage and grow your portfolio with significant support from a sales manager and other functional support staff
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the assigned Account Manager and Client Services team to maximize return for existing clients
  • Develop and personalize presentations that align with client needs and company solutions
  • Develop new business through effective sales techniques and appropriately follow up with all leads
  • Manage the complete sales cycle, including discovery, prospecting, nurturing, negotiation and contract completion
  • Leverage the various support teams, technology, internal database, and CRM through timely and persistent engagement and use
Qualifications:
Education/ Experience:
  • Four-year degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of demonstrated success in outside sales, required
Skills:
  • Success in Federal and/or Tribal government-sector sales, preferred
  • Willingness to travel at least 2 nights away from home each week
  • Research tools used in prospecting
  • CRM experience, preferred
  • Diligent, hardworking, and motivated personal characteristics
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Professional image and conduct, including a clean driving record
  • Conference and trade show experience a plus
Ability:
  • Ability to work from home, including access to high-speed internet and cell phone service
