If you answered yes to these questions, then the Prince William County Office of Executive Management is the place for you!

The Office of the Chair At-Large is seeking an experienced administrative professional to provide direct support to the Board of County Supervisors. This position works directly with County executives and departments, elected officials, and the general public. The right person for this position must have outstanding administrative skills and be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality in a constantly evolving environment.

About this role: The successful candidate will have first contact with citizens, elected officials, businesses and other county agencies that engage with the Office of the Chair At-Large. The selected individual will be friendly and dynamic, have the ability to defuse negative situations and manage expectations, and have an understanding of all the county services to redirect them, if needed, to the most appropriate person to assist them. In addition, the candidate must be detail oriented and have the ability to multitask, prioritize tasks and determine what confidential information can be disseminated and to whom. Your contribution as an Administrative Specialist in the Office of the Chair At-Large will include:


  • Working closely with executive management, elected officials, department directors and employees, and the public
  • Manage multiple daily calendars
  • Answer and screen calls and visitors
  • Review and edit correspondence and signature items
  • Compose, edit, prepare correspondence from the Chair At-Large
  • Coordinate meeting schedules and provide meeting set up and logistics
  • Assist with meeting agenda and document preparation and take meeting notes/minutes
  • Maintain official records
  • Prepare reports and presentations
  • Review and process office purchases and transactions

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related experience.

Preferences (the successful candidate will have):
  • 3 years of related administrative experience
  • Experience supporting elected officials or high-level executives and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of Office 365 Office Suite and experience developing team sites with SharePoint/Office 365
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent editing and proofreading skills
Schedule requirements: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Special requirements: The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment background check.

Starting Salary Range: $23.67 - $35.51
