Job Duties

Assist veterans and their dependents in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of all lawful and ethical veterans claims for benefits and services to which they are entitled throughout the Northern Region. Educate veterans and dependents on the services and benefits offered by Virginia and the federal government. Travels extensively throughout the region providing such support. Conduct outreach to promote VDVS.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to veterans’ benefits is preferred.
Experience with the military and / or military veteran communities.
Ability to interpret complex laws and regulations and apply to casework.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Customer service and public speaking skills. Some overnight travel is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must be eligible for accreditation to represent veterans before the US Department of Veterans Affairs. Graduation from an accredited college or university with significant course work in law and counseling is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience indicating possession of the preceding knowledge and abilities may substitute for the education requirement.
