Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Streets & Parks Superintendent, performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the City streets, parks, signage, sidewalks, curb & gutter, street lighting, parking structures, storm water system and the operation of medium and heavy construction and other specialized equipment while providing seamless cooperative service to our residents and visitors. Job Responsibilities
Performs any combination of the following duties to maintain and repair the property of municipality, using a variety of machines, tools, and equipment:
Cuts grass and trims weeds on city property and parks, using lawn mower and weed trimmer. Digs flower beds and plants flowers, using gardening tools.
Cleans buildings, washes windows, and empties trash cans, using brooms and cleaning supplies.
Paints interior and exterior walls and trim, using paint and painting tools.
Operates backhoe to dig trenches. Drives truck and loads fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto truck.
Repairs streets and sidewalks with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete, using shovel, hand roller, trowel, level and long-handled tamp.
Heavily involved in the removal of snow during the winter months, including plowing and haling of snow from City streets, sidewalks, trails and parking lots.
Maintains and repairs municipal buildings' plumbing and electrical systems, including replacing worn or defective parts, such as switches and fuses.
Repairs or replaces building brick, stone, and concrete.
Maintains and repairs wood parts of buildings, using carpenter tools. Replaces worn or damaged parts, such as hoses, wiring, and belts, in machines and equipments, such as truck and riding mover. Hand washes vehicles.
Assist with other duties as required.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge -
Knowledge of light, medium, and heavy equipment operating principle, practices, and procedures.
Knowledge of minor equipment maintenance and repair functions.
Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to mechanized equipment operation.
Knowledgeable in the use of computer systems.
Skills and Abilities -
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other divisions, and the public.
Ability to work collaboratively in a self-managed team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Skilled in the operation of a variety of light, medium and heavy equipment under varying conditions.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work alone and make decisions.
Must have the ability to act effectively in emergency and stressful situations.
Ability to adhere to all City and departmental safety policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements
Often required to work non-traditional working hours which include, weekends, holidays, and nights.
Physically demanding work environment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, run, talk and hear.
The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle or operate objects, controls, or tools. Ability to climb and pull own weight in and out of equipment.
Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and semll.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Periodic exposure to stressful situations.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Occasional on-call working hours, including evenings and weekends.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have or the ability to obtain a valid Oklahoma Driver's License
