SENIOR HUMAN SERVICES COUNSELOR – PREVENTION & DIVERSION

Health and Human Service Department – Social Services Division- Prevention and Diversion Program Shelter Services – Full-Time (37.5 hours/week), Project position – The Social Services department is seeking a candidate for a Senior Human Services Counselor. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM.

This is a supervisory position. Responsibilities includeassisting homeless individuals and families seeking shelter through a prevention and diversion model by increasing community supports and overall stabilization leading to permanent, safe and supportive housing. This position will also be responsible for rigorous data entry and documentation requirements as required by HUD. The person hired into this position will be responsible for referrals to shelter services as well as working closely with the shelter housing team. Additional duties include location of and placement in permanent housing, client outreach and relationship building, development of housing resources and follow up to ensure increased community supports and long-term housing stability. Other job duties include: Crisis intervention, referral for detox and other substance use services, referral for mental health services, referral for healthcare services, potential coordination with Homeless Services Center Housing team. Additionally, this position will assist the Program Coordinator in direct supervision of the Prevention and Diversion program staff.

Requirements: Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously required. Experience with housing placement in a rapid re housing model preferred. Experience within programs serving homeless or at-risk populations as well as experience with mental illness, substance use and other barriers to self-sufficiency also preferred. B.A. degree in Social Services or equivalent combination of combined education, experience, and training desired. Valid Maine Class C driver's license (please provide license number) and personal vehicle available for work also desired. Offers of employment are contingent upon completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.

Non-Union position - Grade B25 – Pay range starting at $52,279.76/annually.
