This position is a commissioned law enforcement job, responsible for ensuring the safety of the park visitors and protecting and preserving the resources of the park. This is done by obtaining voluntary compliance with the state laws and park directives. Other duties include patrolling park property, preventing vandalism or destruction of park facilities, administering first aid, and assisting the public as well as other duties as assigned. This position is subject to 24-hour call and is assigned to work holidays and weekends.

Seasonal Ranger employment is subject to satisfactory completion of a Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST) required background check and physical and psychological exams.

Successful applicants will be assigned to different parks across the state. Depending on performance, employment will continue through Labor Day.

This position offers paid holidays and retirement credits. Uniforms and law enforcement supplies are provided. Housing and utilities are provided when available at assigned park location.

Applicants must meet or exceed the following qualifications: the formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, parks and recreation management, or a related field. Current law enforcement certification and years of service will be considered. Successful non-certified applicants Must complete the Arkansas law enforcement certification training in accordance with ACA 12-9-106. Applicant must be 21 years of age or older. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
