JOB TITLE: PLAYGROUND SUPERVISOR

The City of Pittsfield’s Recreation Department is seeking a qualified individual to fill the seasonal position of Playground Supervisor. Under the direction of the Recreation and Special Events Coordinator, the Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and the operations of the summer playground program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Must work effectively with Playground Leaders and members of the public and respond to inquiries and complaints in a positive and professional manner.
• Supervises Playground Leaders; regularly holds staff meetings with the leaders for program monitoring.
• Develops daily structured programs.
• Aids in marketing and advertising of the program.
• Aids in preparation of final program evaluation.
• Responsible for performing the duties of the Playground Leaders.
• Ability to prioritize and respond to situations and emergencies in a positive and professional manner.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be able to work the duration of the program: Training Day July 6, program runs July 10 – August 18th (Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm)
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The incumbent works in various dynamic locations. While performing the duties of Playground Supervisor the incumbent is required to: interact and communicate frequently with the public, government officials, other staff members and boards, and/or third parties transacting business with the City. Frequent periods of outside, sometimes inclement weather.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be capable of moving freely through the parks, interacting with the program attendees. Must be capable of carrying at least 25 pounds.

HOURS

Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm

SALARY

$18.06 per hour
