Job Summary


As an Operations Support/Cloud Engineer, you will provide advanced technical design and engineering role within the MNIT @DPS Operations Support Team in the transformation of MNIT Services cloud (private/public/hybrid) environments. This position will have an active role in developing and transforming the way we deliver and upgrade MNIT's cloud environments with upgraded tools, automation, and techniques based on technology best practices and the most up to date security standards. This role will take on an ever-changing part to analyze, assess, design and implement the next evolution of the cloud environment. This position will also assist DPS in reviewing current Cloud hosting and potentially migrating to Microsoft Azure Cloud environment for some or all of the DPS services currently hosted in AWS.

This position is temporary position and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last up to one (1) year,

This position requires an employee to be onsite at the work location 1 day per week.

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a remote telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies.
  • Candidates residing outside of Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) require additional review prior to telework approval upon becoming a finalist.
  • Candidates located in Minnesota, or a bordering state, do not require additional review.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

This position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience with Linux/Unix/Windows server operating systems, network, and cloud computing technologies.

Experience must include:

  • Linux/Windows administration
  • AWS/Azure Cloud administration
  • Experience with cloud services (Saas, PaaS, laaS)
  • Information technology frameworks, such as ITIL

*A Master's degree in Information Technology or a related field may substitute for three years of experience, related Bachelor's degree may substitute for two years, or related Associate's may substitute for one year.*

  • Managing Windows Servers hosted in the Cloud via Cloud Interfaces
  • Migrating servers from on-prem to Cloud
  • Migrating servers from one Cloud vendor to another
  • Setting up networks and security access in the Cloud
  • Configuring application and network load balancers
  • Managing infrastructure as code
  • Advanced scripting with PowerShell
