POSITION SUMMARY:

The Damage Prevention Manager plays a crucial role in leading a team and overseeing the implementation of an effective damage prevention program and public awareness program to ensure the safe and reliable operation of natural gas infrastructure. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills, along with a deep understanding of natural gas operations, regulatory compliance, industry best practices, and will be able to effectively collaborate with stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and prevent damages to natural gas infrastructure.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage a team: Provide leadership to a team of damage prevention professionals, assigning work, setting expectations, providing guidance, and coaching, and evaluating performance to ensure efficient and effective implementation of damage prevention programs.
  • Develop and implement damage prevention programs: Create, implement, and enforce policies, procedures, and best practices related to damage prevention in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company guidelines.
  • Develop and implement public awareness programs: Create, implement, and enforce policies and procedures, and best practices related to public awareness in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company guidelines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Establish and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including utility companies, contractors, excavators, regulatory agencies, and local authorities to promote cooperation and compliance with damage prevention and public awareness measures.
  • Conduct risk assessments: Identify potential risks and hazards to natural gas infrastructure through risk assessments, audits, and inspections. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks and improve overall safety performance.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents: Ensure damage prevention and operations teams lead investigations of incidents and accidents related to damages to natural gas infrastructure, identify root causes, and develop corrective action plans to prevent future occurrences.
  • Provide training and education: Develop and deliver training programs to internal and external stakeholders on damage prevention procedures, regulations, and best practices. Stay updated with industry developments and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders.
  • Monitor compliance: Monitor compliance with damage prevention policies and procedures through audits, inspections, and evaluations. Implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Reporting and documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports, and documentation related to damage prevention activities, incidents, investigations, and compliance.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in natural gas operations, with a focus on damage prevention preferred.
  • 5+ years managing and leading damage prevention efforts preferred.
  • 3+ years managing and leading public awareness efforts preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices related to natural gas damage prevention and public awareness.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, investigations, and audits, and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training programs.
  • Proficient in using relevant software and tools for documentation and reporting.
  • Team leadership experience, including leading a team of professionals, assigning work, providing guidance, and evaluating performance.
