Job Responsibilities

This position plans, directs and coordinates agency activities in information security; develops and enforces DPH's security policies. procedures and information security awareness program. This position also serves as a liaison to Federal / State auditors in performing routine audits of IT systems and user access permissions; assists with the documentation and information gathering for system security plans, Incident response plans, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity plans; performs investigative analysis of system logs and vulnerability scans.

This position reports directly to the Information Security Officer.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Answers requests for information.
  • Using scanning tools and reports, Identifies, and communicates vulnerabilities and Risks. Creates remediation plan and follows to completion.
  • Manage, report and document security incidents.
  • Conducts in-depth research and analysis on current threats and network vulnerabilities.
  • Works with vendors and OIT team to review new projects for security compliance.
  • Performs system and application security assessments.
  • Enforce, review, and write IT policies.
  • Participate in audits and PEN tests..
  • Manage Security Awareness training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information assurance, or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Six years of information technology experience, Two years of which in information security or information assurance.

Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with cybersecurity best practices and frameworks such as NIST 800-53, SOC2
  • Experience with PII, PHI and HIPAA and PCI regulations.
  • Working knowledge of the incident management process
