THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will conduct on-site surveys and evaluations of public and private children and youth agencies; conduct evaluations and analyze data collected regarding allegations of child abuse of children in approved public and private agencies using professional knowledge of protective service principles and accepted models of casework practice to assure that children in out-of-home placement are protected; conducts evaluations and program achievement reviews from both a professional and administrative point of view; prepares and present the results of evaluations and reviews; analyze and evaluate data regarding contracts, plans, and requests for reimbursement, audits and other financial reports; provide advice, consultation and assistance to public and private children and youth agencies regarding administration and operation of child caring agencies to assure that state standards are met.

In addition, you will consult with interested groups for the purpose of advising them on ways of improving the services to clients and to provide education consultation in the children, youth and families programs supported by the Department; develop, recommend and participate in the revision or development of policy relative to the Children, Youth and Families' program and implements departmental policy to assure that program goals are met; prepare reports on evaluations conducted; prepare correspondence and other written and oral reports. You will also have involvement with and coordinate efforts within county agencies for statewide initiatives; coordinate implementation of court ordered class lawsuits, which affect public and/or private children and youth agencies; and reviews and prepares recommendations on submitted needs-based plans from county agencies.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday - Friday, with 1-hour lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to three (3) days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Three years of professional experience developing, implementing, or evaluating a human service program, and a bachelor’s degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
