Responsibilities

Provide assistance in managing Product Development team.

Strong focus on delivering Jumbo/private investor products, in addition to various conventional and government agency products.

Analyze and interpret Investor Announcements, Bulletins, Mortgagee Letters, VA Circulars, etc. and create development plan for implementation of guidelines and product changes adhering to sensitive timelines.

Manage and approve the implementation of comprehensive internal and external Operations/Selling Guide changes for all channels – Retail, Wholesale and Correspondent.

Lead project management effort to develop product development initiatives as assigned by department manager. Facilitate engagement of required stakeholders and thorough/timely review of policy/product/process changes to ensure high quality output and reasonable time to market. Provide guideline interpretation and impact to systems liaison in support of creation and maintenance of new/existing products as it relates to loan origination system, government systems as well as mortgage servicing system. Define business requirements or system maintenance updates as needed. Lead product projects, including but not limited to, defining project scope document, build business case, writing business requirements document, process mapping, identifying system requirements, implementation task plan, review testing results, conduct project team meetings (prepare agendas /minutes) training materials and job aids/tools. After product launch, continually monitor product performance and recommend changes as needed.

Create and update product descriptions and prepare formal Change Announcements and marketing internal/external announcements.

Ensure products assigned are current with investor guideline changes and are accurate and thoroughly explained in program guide/supporting documentation and in change announcements.

Monitor private investor market for program offerings, features, products, and credit policy gaps particularly related to wealth/jumbo and first-time homebuyer segments.

Provide support as needed to sales and operations in interpretation of those guidelines. Provide guidance to Operations personnel to control risk and to effectively meet investor requirements (i.e., Processing, Underwriting, Closing, Post-Closing & Government Insuring). Coordinate with and work routinely with Credit Administration unit as needed to support Credit related needed guidance, underwriting support and/or projects. Work with specific investors and/or outside consultants related to product responsibility to ensure communication is timely.

Work with Investor Relations manager and function as primary point of contact with certain government entities (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Bond (HFAs), HUD, VA, GNMA etc.) and facilitate productive relationships for policy and product changes.

Provide support to all project managers as needed and participate on special projects as directed by department manager. Manage day-to-day product issue resolution for Mortgage.

Evaluate borrower/market needs, competitive gaps and/or opportunities for Sales within specific product areas or responsibility. Perform market research as needed.

Provide technical product knowledge assistance to marketing in support of marketing materials as well as of product training to loan production and operations staff.

Track product guideline changes and updates against project plan and timeline.

Oversee, coordinate item tracking as in Change Control database (JIRA). Develop user stories from the business requirements.

Identify product risks and create/facilitate risk mitigation plans and strategies.

Act as a liaison between product development and residential mortgage department colleagues.


Qualifications
A minimum of 10 years mortgage banking experience with direct experience in product development/management of 7+ years and 5+ project management. Experience with Agile Methodology.

Significant experience in working with and in-depth knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, Ginnie Mae, Bond, Non-QM, private investor jumbo, portfolio and USDA mortgage products, programs, and guidelines

Requires excellent leadership skills, supervisory experience, strong organizational and project management skills (matrix management responsibilities working with other departments and SMEs to coordinate and implement new products, product/policy changes or special projects).

Requires strong analytical skills, with attention to detail; excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently as well as with team comprised of members from across all Home Mortgage channels/departments.

Product and policy rules, regulatory and investor guideline interpretation and communication experience a must. Mortgage operations/underwriting background required, and project management experience preferred.

Help determine the direction, prioritization, and product roadmap for all assigned product guidelines for the Retail, Wholesale and Correspondent channels

Demonstrated effective project management experience is critical and, should include process improvement opportunities, problem solving, working with other departments and SMEs to coordinate the development and implementation of new products / product changes /process workarounds or other special projects of significance.

Requires superior relationship management, relationship building and collaboration skills. Candidate should have experience demonstrating the effective application of those skills across multiple business lines and within various departments. Must demonstrate resourcefulness in a respectful manner at all times, earning confidence and trust of colleagues.

  • Bachelor Degree Required

  • Hours per Week: 40

The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $165,000, plus benefits and an opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus.
