Compensation:

Hourly Pay Range: $9.69-$11.00. This position is eligible for a $.50 per hour shift differential for 2nd and 3rd shifts. *This position is eligible for a temporary $4.00 per hour special differential for all hours worked. This differential is temporary and can end at the Governors discretion.*

Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

Washing dishes at a professional level consists of ongoing-dishwashing throughout the shift with heavier times directly after meal time. The ability to efficiently utilize a commercial quality washer able to wash several trays of dishes quickly is required. The Dishwashers will unload the cutlery and dishes brought to the kitchen by the Food Service Workers while loading and organizing them into trays for the washer. Commercial dishwashers are not always able to accommodate larger pans and pots so they may occasionally need to be washed by hand.

Will, at times, assist with prep work, taking out garbage to the dumpsters. Will wash and disinfect work areas in the kitchen, clean and disinfect refrigerators, cooking equipment, walls and floors and other dietary areas as assigned.

May assist in removing food items from hot line and/or salad bar and food table for return to kitchen after meals. Cleans salad bar and steam table following sanitation guidelines. May clean tables, chairs, floors, and other equipment used after each mealtime.

Performs special assignments or other duties as may be delegated by the Food Service Supervisor, Dietitian or the Clinical Director.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School education or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required at entry: Ability to: 1) understand and follow written and oral directions, 2) work effectively with fellow workers and others, 3) lift and carry heavy objects and, 4) learn the use and care of equipment, materials, utensils, and methods used in food service.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements :

Must successfully pass background check as required by K.S.A. 39-970.

As authorized by the 2018 Kansas Legislature, effective July 1, 2018, K.S.A. 75-4362 is amended to designate all positions with the Kansas Commission on Veterans’ Affairs office, to include both the Kansas Soldiers’ Home and Kansas Veterans’ Home as Safety Sensitive positions and subject to the drug testing program.
