Responsibilities:
Job Summary: Responsible for Financial counseling of all patients with financial obligations. Works closely with the Admitting Office, Medical Records, Utilization Review and physicians' office staff. Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.

The right person will have knowledge of insurance benefits, coverage limits, co-pays etc and counsel patients of the financial responsibility as it pertains to them individually. The individual will possess a strong work ethic towards achivement and accomplishing goals set before them as well as a conpassionate and therapuetic approach towards patients. ancial counseling track record of success a plus when it can be demonstrated.
previous sales, insurance, or related field experince a plus. Working with patients in a previous role a plus. .
Verifies hospital insurance information.- Compiles hospital bills, completes appropriate forms, submits claims to proper agencies/insurance companies.
- Contacts patients/insurance companies to collect unpaid insurance claims.
- Verifies Insurance / Demographic information in computer system
- Stays informed about changes in insurance plans and contracts.
- Follow up on all accounts within 30 days until paid.
- Moves Self Pay accounts to collections when appropriate by policy
- Keeps upfront log up to date with daily activity/discharges
- Answers the telephone in a polite manner. Communicates information to the appropriate personnel.
10.Demonstrates the ability to be flexible, organized and function well in stressful situations.
- Interacts with patients/families in a professional manner. Provides explanations regarding statements,
- insurance coverage. Counsels all patients to explain financial obligations.
- Treats patients/families with respect; ensures confidentiality of patient records.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department and with other departments.
- Maintains a professional working relationship with insurance companies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ensures documentation meets current standards and policies.

Qualifications:
Regulatory Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent. BS in account or admin preferred.
1-3 years experience in a related field.
Understanding of Mdicare, Medicaid, HMO's, PPO's, private insurance companies preferred.
