New Job Elementary General Music Teacher In Oklahoma

Immanuel Lutheran Christian Academy in Broken Arrow, OK has a full time opening for an inspiring music teacher to teach general music to elementary students in grades Kindergarten-5th grade. The teacher will help students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of music through a variety of planned musical experiences which include singing, moving to music, and playing of instruments. This position could be a hybrid position with 2 small middle school band classes if it suits the candidate’s skill set.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Teach general music to K-5th grade using appropriate curriculum
● Utilize a variety of repertoire appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.
● Plan, rehearse, and direct students in two concerts (Christmas and Spring) for school families
● Plan a balanced music program and organize daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.
● Develop and refine music curriculum based on state standards of creating, performing, and responding.
● Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment
● Communicate clearly with parents and school faculty/staff
● Basic technology skills (computers, email, Smart Board, text, etc)
● Maintains/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment.
● Cooperation with the Director of Fine Arts, Headmaster, Principal and fellow staff members.
This position reports to the Fine Arts Director.
● Potential additional duties based on candidate’s qualifications:
Assist in production of annual school musical, teach one beginner and one intermediate band class, assist with music for weekly Chapel services

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
● Minimum Bachelors in Music or Music Education
● Ability to work well with elementary students and musicians at all skill levels
● Strong instrumental skills preferred
● Active member of a Christian congregation
