The Utah Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is offering an exceptional opportunity to lead the Internal Audit Division (IA), as the director of performance audits for the department.

The division assists department leadership continuously improve operations by providing independent and objective analyses, appraisals and recommendations concerning the effectiveness and efficiency of operations and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Audits are conducted in accordance with professional standards by a team of highly qualified individuals who hold professional designations such as CPA, CIA, and CFE. The Ideal Candidate

  • Has a Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting.
  • Has five or more years work experience auditing compliance with federal programs.
  • Has one or more years work experience conducting internal audits applying Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) professional standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and research skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to think independently and problem solve in a results driven team-oriented environment.
  • Strong computer and technical skills.
  • Is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Preferred Education
Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration

Required Certification(s) (at least one of the following)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)

Preferred Experience
Five or more years’ experience auditing compliance with federal programs.
