Job Summary
The Office of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is seeking a qualified Consumer Analysts to assist the Office to improve access to justice, fairness, and opportunity for Minnesotans in a wide variety of matters including the following: debt collection, employment, utilities, medical billing, and housing. Analysts are primarily responsible for answering the Office’s Consumer Assistance Hotline and providing information to Minnesotans on a range of inquiries and assisting in resolving disputes when possible. This position also involves preparing responses to correspondence the Office receives from the public. Analysts work collaboratively with our consumer protection staff and occasionally attorneys to review consumer complaints for violations of consumer protection laws, gather evidence, and prepare documents.
This position is a rare opportunity to be a part of a committed team of Minnesota Attorney General professionals whose common mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Minnesotans from all backgrounds and requires dynamic individuals with excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work creatively and collaboratively. You will receive training on various consumer protection topics.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work environment after successful completion of onboarding and training.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or demonstrated similar experience
- Skill in:
- Active listening, conflict resolution, and objectivity
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsft Office 365
- Customer or constituent services
- Professional communication in writing, in person, and over the phone
- Ability to:
- Adapt and work with different personality types in person, online, and on the phone
- Identify internal/external customer needs, research issues, and provide resources, recommendations, solutions to customers accordingly
- Multi-task, set priorities, and manage time effectively with minimal management support while managing a large case load with a high attention to detail, deadlines, and professionalism
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Oromo, or other relevant language for Minnesota’s diverse communities
- 1-2 years experience in customer or constituent service
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move and transport such articles as files, laptop computer and resource materials weighing up to 20 pounds
