The City of Aurora is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Confidential Secretary in the Division of Purchasing within the Finance Department.
Under general supervision, the Confidential Secretary independently performs secretarial duties of varied complexity, which may include policy-making matters, labor relations, legal and financial issues.
The duties of this position will include but are not limited to: Compose a wide variety of difficult, diverse, and confidential materials from verbal or written instructions; Perform complex administrative duties as required for efficient operation of the office such as mail, payroll, order and maintain supplies; Research, obtain, organize, prepare, and distribute data, reports, memos, and documents; Provide technical assistance; Utilize various computer programs; Establish and maintain filing system; Assist management with informal bid solicitations and some formal bid solicitations; Answer phones and act as a receptionist; Other duties as assigned.
This position requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. and two (2) years progressively responsible secretarial experience. The ideal candidate must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle interruptions, and multi-task. Strong organizational skills, typing skills, and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in written form are desired.
Must successfully pass pre-hire requirements including but not limited to a physical, drug screen, and background check.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Starting hourly wage is $23.24/hr., depending on experience. Excellent benefit package included.
