Job Duties

The College Counseling division of Knovva Academy is a boutique, personal, full-service college application service offering customized college planning solutions for students and families.

At Knovva, our Knovva Academy College Consultants help students explore their college and career options. Knovva Academy College Advisors assist families as they consider priorities for their applying student. The Knovva Academy College Advisors are a family-facing role. They guide the family, as the college consultant guides the student in researching options and ensuring they complete all the necessary steps in the college application process.

Responsibilities

• Communications: Initiate, plan, and implement one-on-one private meetings with parents and students, which will be ongoing throughout the application process. One of the main responsibilities of the college advisor is to be active with the family of our student clients. This includes regular email and phone call check-ins, interpretation and assistance with the roadmap to college implementation, and acting as the touchpoint for all family-based communication.
• Implementation of Parent Instruction: Through the use of our Parent University curriculum the College Advisor will work through the steps parents can take to support the college counseling process.
• Support College Consultant: The student-facing college consultant will require the support of the college advisor to assist the family unit in implementing the roadmap to college provided by the Knovva Academy College Consultant.
• Webinars/Blogs: Plan and deliver webinars and blogs on topics such as Applying Early or How to Write a Personal Statement.
• Personal college planning schedule: Using College Planner Pro, the advisor helps families chart the course of the application year, including deadlines for standardized tests, college application due dates, and more.
• Be Proactive: The white-glove college counseling service at Knovva Academy requires college advisors to be forward-facing with respect to our client base. This proactive approach requires the advisor to be nimble and resourceful to meet our client's needs and implement the roadmap provided by the college consultant.

Qualifications

• BA or M.Ed in Education or related field from a regionally accredited Experience with the college counseling process and the requirements to get into top schools
• Experience with top-tier colleges and high schools (as a student and/or as an educator) preferred
• Work experience with international clients (parents)
• Experience working in an international and multicultural environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience in the college admission process or attendance at a top 25 college or university with high admissions standards is preferred
• IECA or NACAC certification or certification eligible preferred
• Time zone flexibility - we serve students all over the world, ability to work evenings and weekends is imperative
• Foreign language fluency - Mandarin preferred

Compensation

• Knovva Academy offers a competitive pay structure that is commensurate with experience and education.
