SALARY:
2023 $14.75/hour
Lifeguard adds a $2.00 stipend per hour
NYS Retirement Eligible!
LOCATION:
City of Saratoga Springs NY - Recreation Department

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The following qualification(s) MUST be met and clearly stated on the City of Saratoga Springs employment application form:
Successfully complete at least two years of high school
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LIFEGUARDS:
Possession of an NYS DOH-recognized Lifeguard Training, Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation, & First Aid Certificates at the time of appointment and maintenance of said certifications for the duration of employment.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Counselor
  • Supervises and ensures the safety of the children participating in the summer camp program;
  • Plans and coordinates recreational programs of interest to various age groups;
  • Leads and participated in the instruction of children in games, sports, and arts and crafts;
  • Supervises the issuance, use, care and return of Camp Saradac supplies and equipment;
  • Prepares and maintains records of attendance;
  • Leads and participates in the collection and disposal of rubbish and litter.
Lifeguard
  • Applies resuscitation techniques and otherwise renders first aid;
  • Instructs beginners in swimming;
  • Keeps the beach free of glass and other debris;
  • Performs other routine duties such as repairing equipment, pool cleaning, and maintenance;
  • Maintains order;
  • Enforces compliance with beach or pool rules;
  • May provide assistance to persons with disabilities in reaching less accessible areas.
