Manager V – Associate Director of Operations– Bureau of Air and Waste

The Program Manager V is part of the Bureau of Air and Waste (BAW) and will report directly to the Assistant Commissioner. BAW programs include Air Quality, Climate Mitigation, Solid and Hazardous Waste, Recycling, Underground Storage Tanks, and programs to reduce toxics in the environment. The Program Manager will assist the Assistant Commissioner in managing functions of the Bureau including organizing, setting agendas, and tracking outcomes of BAW meetings with Boston and Regional staff; participating in and assisting in program and policy development activities, across functional areas and Divisions, as assigned; serve as a BAW representative on the MassDEP Environmental Justice Team and work on and tracking BAW EJ initiatives, managing the hiring process; and working on internal and external communications.

- Ability to be customer service oriented and give assistance to staff with getting information
- Knowledge of MassDEP environmental and BAW programs
- Applicants must have at least (A) six (6) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, or public management, of which (B) at least two (2) years must have been in a project management, supervisory or managerial capacity or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Accounting, and /or Public Administration
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated experience to direct and manage a multi-generational and diverse team.
- Microsoft Office Proficiency in Word, Access, Excel.
