The City of Aurora is currently seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Water & Sewer Maintenance. The City of Aurora is the second largest city in the state of Illinois with a population of approximately 200,000.
Under the direction of the Superintendent of Water and Sewer Maintenance, the Assistant Superintendent engages in policymaking and strategic planning for the Water and Sewer Maintenance Division, is responsible for overall management of the Water and Sewer Maintenance Division and acts as the Superintendent of the Water and Sewer Maintenance in the Superintendent"s absence.
Duties of this position include but are not limited to managing all Water and Sewer Division operations activities; Assists with the supervision for the day-to-day activities of employees; Manages and is responsible for all employees in the Water and Sewer Maintenance Division, including but not limited to interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems; Assists in the preparation of the annual budget and capital improvement plan for the Water and Sewer Division; Manages the preventative maintenance program for the Water and Sewer Division, including equipment and infrastructure; Responsible for record keeping and scheduling of required recurrent and elective training of staff; Performs other duties assigned by the Superintendent.
This position requires an associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. The position requires an Illinois Class D Water Operator"s certification or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire. The preferred candidate would have a minimum of four (4) years of experience in water distribution, sewer collection systems, and storm water management. Requires at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Must have the ability to respond to after hour calls and emergencies. Requires a valid Illinois driver"s license.
This is a full-time, executive position. The salary range is $98,612.80 - $132,620.80, depending on experience. Excellent benefit package included.
