Job Summary:

The Drake University Teaching and Learning Department invites applications for a part-time adjunct position as a Student Teaching Supervisor. This position will be responsible for the supervision of students during the Fall 2023 term.

The instructor will be responsible for a minimum of bi-weekly site/observation visits to each of the schools where a student teacher assigned to the supervisor has been placed. The supervisor will provide feedback to the student teacher, cooperating teacher, and program director. The supervisor will facilitate seminar sessions with the student teachers in their group on designated Tuesday evenings during the semester.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree
  • At least five years of teaching experience at the secondary level
  • 5-12 content area endorsement

Essential Job Duties:

  • A minimum of bi-weekly site/observation visits to the student teacher’s school.
  • Provide feedback to the student teacher.
  • Complete the evaluation of the student teacher.
  • Communicate with the cooperating teacher assigned to each student teacher.
  • Facilitate seminar sessions with the student teachers in their group on designated Tuesday evenings during the semester.
  • Communicate with the program director.
  • Attend supervisor meetings.

For faculty positions, selection will depend on the receipt of recommendation confirming the candidate's scholarly achievements and teaching abilities and/or on the candidate's satisfactory passing of a teaching demonstration if selected for an on-campus interview. For staff positions, selection will depend upon careful review of each applicant’s references, education, and, if applicable, experience.
