The Wine Director is responsible for building and maintaining a world-class wine program that generates revenue in every area of the business: restaurant, private events, rooms and special programming.
The Wine Director provides support to the Inn through maintaining a room wine program and inventory, special wine-centric room packages and add-ons, including private tastings for the guests.
The Wine Director supports the restaurant through sommelier service on the floor; cellar maintenance; purchasing and wine program development; printing and updating the wine list; maintaining proper pricing in POS; pursuing wine-related awards (managing the application processes and deadlines); staff wine training; monthly wine inventory reporting and analytics; maintaining an appropriate physical inventory of glassware and wine service-related physical needs; as revenue levels justify, hiring and training sommeliers for floor service in the restaurant.
The Wine Director supports the Private Events department through developing, staffing and maintaining a schedule of wine-tasting events during peak seasons; hosting, promoting and planning Wine Cellar Dinners; overseeing private events planning and execution through staffing and organizing the set-up and break-down procedures; assisting the Event Coordinator in overseeing proper menu development, pricing and seasonally appropriate offerings.
The Wine Director is a management position within the Hermitage Inn. This position is a revenue-driving position that adds value to the guest experience through thoughtful wine-related offerings and elevating the overall reputation of the Hermitage Inn in the wine and travel industry. The Wine Director will attend all management meetings and adhere to budgetary criteria provided by ownership. The Wine Director will work closely with Ownership and develop the wine program in accordance with guidance from ownership in terms of selections and big picture goals.
