Description
The Parks Department is looking for the next Park Ranger Recruit to assist in patrolling and monitoring city-county parks, park trailways, and park facilities to enforce City, County and State laws, ordinances, regulations, rules and administrative policies.
This position provides security and performs other related duties as assigned to prepare for the position of Park Ranger.

Candidates must have already obtained a POST certification, or be actively enrolled in a Law Enforcement Academy, with the ability to obtain POST certification within 6 months.
Positions will work a semi-set shift determined by the department, but candidate will need to be flexible based on staffing needs and special events like the Springfield Lasers Tennis Team season, Turkey Trot, & Harvest Fest ...just to name a few.

Qualifications and Requirements
Experience, Education, and Training:
- Must be a high school graduate or have a G.E.D.
AND
- Class A or B P.O.S.T. certified peace officer
OR
- Currently enrolled in a Class A or B P.O.S.T. program with successful passing of P.O.S.T. exam within six (6) months of hire date;
PREFERRED
- Law enforcement experience and/or education preferred, but not required.
Licensing/Certification:
- Must be certified through the Missouri Department of Public Safety as a peace officer within six (6) months of hire date;
- Must pass state exam and meet and maintain P.O.S.T. requirements.
- Possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
- Possess or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire date.
