The Mission of the Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) is to protect the public, our staff, and those within our custody and supervision through safety, accountability, partnership and providing opportunities for offender change.

The Idaho Department of Correction is currently recruiting for an IT Manager IV. This position will manage an IT department with a range of application service areas and will serve as the primary liaison between IDOC and the statewide Information Technology Services (ITS).

Hiring lists may be created from open competitive, IDOC Department Promotional, or Statewide promotional applicants. The applications may also be used for future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months.

Example of Duties

  • Prioritize and negotiate agency IT projects in collaboration with IDOC leadership to support the agency’s mission
  • Communicate IDOC priorities to ITS to ensure adequate support for projects
  • Ensure availability of modern technologies to allow for improved efficiency throughout the department
  • Position IT to enhance strategic investments for IDOC
  • Ensure rollout of IT initiatives including change management approaches to prepare staff for impending changes to work practices
  • Proactively identify agency IT needs and propose solutions to IDOC leadership
  • Provide expertise and support around the enhancement of broadband to facilities around the state, rollout of an air-gapped system for incarcerated persons, and full migration to cloud-based products
  • Partner with ITS to leverage enterprise-level solutions for IDOC when applicable
  • Directly supervise an IT buyer, IT project manager, and IT applications manager
  • Support and direct multi-year migration project of central client data system to a new customized, off-the-shelf tool
  • Participate in both the Idaho Technology Authority (ITA) and IT Leadership Council (ITLC)
OPERATIONS
  • Direst the integration of technology solutions across multiple units
  • Direct, develop, and present to management various analysis and solutions
  • Develop and manage current and future budget plans for the areas managed, including prioritizing expenditures
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and IT equipment and services

Minimum Qualifications

  • Considerable knowledge of current industry trends, products, and services in information systems, processing equipment, and software
  • Experience managing a professional information technology staff through subordinate supervisors
  • Experience developing and controlling an operating budget
  • Experience developing and implementing IT policies and procedures
  • Experience advising top-level management regarding major IT matters
  • Experience developing short-and long-range plans and assessing training needs

HIRING INFORMATION:
To be hired, candidates will have a history and background supportive of department mission goals and will be subject to:

  • Completing a Background Investigation Questionnaire and pre-employment drug testing
  • Having a federal and state criminal background check to include fingerprints
  • Having a history of law-abiding behavior
  • Felonies, misdemeanors, illegal drug usage, DUI's, adverse driving convictions and employment history may make you ineligible for employment
