The State Auditor's Office is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator whose primary purpose is to oversee full life cycle recruiting of all SAO staff as well as assisting in the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the human resource function.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages full life cycle recruiting of all SAO staff.
  • Attends recruiting events as well as meetings, seminars, and conferences pertaining to human resources/personnel administration.
  • Directs and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all SAO personnel.
  • Designs and/or conducts new hire orientation and disseminates information regarding benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists in coordination and administering of SAO personnel training.
  • Advises SAO Employee Association, manages health and wellness activities, and acts as agency coordinator for State Charitable Campaign.
  • Exercises significant independent judgment and initiative under general administrative direction.
  • Works cohesively with other HR representatives for the purpose of maintaining and improving SAO.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, personnel information systems, resource allocation and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of the Agency, program terminology, and the Agency’s policies and procedures.
  • General knowledge of various local, state, and federal employment laws, including but not limited to the Fair Labor Standards Act, FMLA, those enforced by EEOC, affirmative action guidelines, and various others.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct training classes for adults.
  • Ability to travel regularly, including overnight travel, for recruiting events, etc.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures and objectives effectively throughout the Agency and to communicate with outside candidates and consultants/representatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resource Management, Business, Management, or a related field.
  • Two or more years of professional, technical or consultative experience in human relations, personnel administration, recruitment and selections, employee grievance, equal employment or other investigations, or a closely related area preferred.
  • Possession of SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred, desire and ability to attain SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP
