Provides exemplary financial counseling to students, parents, and others interested in student financial aid.
The Financial Aid Coordinator assists in the administration of federal, state and institutional student aid programs for a diverse population of traditional and non-traditional students.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duty/Responsibility
- Demonstrates a firm understanding in government and private resources for funding a college education.
- Interprets, implements, and maintains up-to-date knowledge of Federal and State guidelines governing financial aid programs.
- Advises and counsels students, parents, and staff regarding all aspects of student financial aid, including but not limited to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), application or processing difficulties, eligibility requirements, changes in financial circumstances, inadequate resources, alternative funding options, satisfactory academic progress and appeals.
- Collaborates with the Director to update and maintain website and forms related to the Department of Education’s application and verification requirements.
- Collaborates with the Director to update and maintain the Net Price Calculator.
- Evaluate and verify financial aid applications and supporting documents for accuracy, clarity, and completeness according to the detailed and complex federal rules and regulations and submits corrections and or updates as required.
- Work in coordination with the Associate Director to review, research, and resolve financial aid eligibility issues. This includes utilizing Federal and State agency online data management systems to troubleshoot student issues.
- Full responsibility for administering and managing Concord University Foundation Scholarships.
- Administers student aid funds. Packages/reviews financial aid awards. Generating and reviewing various reports to ensure accurate financial aid records are maintained and aid is properly disbursed.
- Responsible for calculating and determining refunds and repayments with respect to federal, state, and institutional guidelines.
- Presents and assists with financial aid presentations, workshops, symposiums, and fairs.
- Serve as backup and cover responsibilities of other staff as needed
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Licenses/Certification
Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and work in accordance of federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations, and policies
- Strong work ethic with excellent oral and verbal communication
skills. - Proficiency with computers.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize financial aid software and other software as needed.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of confidentiality to interact with students and their families regarding their personal and financial data.
- Ability to prioritize while performing multiple tasks.
- Detailed oriented and an aptitude for accuracy.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and to remain focused in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and to interact with students and parents in stressful situations while maintaining accuracy and a highly processional demeanor.
