Full Description

Field Interviewers are responsible for

  • Working daytime hours Monday - Friday, some evenings, and possible weekends
  • Making in-person contact withselected inmates in correctional facilities, including one on one contact with inmates in a private setting to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation
  • Administering computer questionnaires and providing instructions via audio headphones
  • Collecting confidential information and administering standardized questionnaires
  • Independently managing administrative duties, including participating in conference calls, and completing online trainings
  • Adhering to the rules of the correctional facilities while conducting interviews
  • Providing prompt, reliable, and accurate reporting to both On-site Supervisor (OS) and Field Supervisor (FS)
  • Working as a team and follow Onsite Supervisor instructions, as well as work independently
  • Maintaining a professional attitude and ability to effectively communicate with facility staff
  • When working in the field, must be willing to agree to any COVID-19 related protocols put in place by RTI. These could include, among others, wearing face coverings or respiratory protection, and completing a Workplace Health Pledge. All safety supplies required for use on the project will be provided by RTI
Requirements:

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old at time of employment
  • Must possess High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess effective communication skills through speech and listening, and fluency in English through reading, writing, and speaking
  • Available for entire training and data collection period
  • Able to successfully complete training
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use
  • Able to keep project information confidential
  • Able to work up to 40 hours per week when facilities are scheduled for data collection, based on the availability of the facilities and inmates
  • Available for overnight travel for a week at a time; staying in a hotel Sunday – Friday if assigned to work at a remote facility

Preferred Qualifications for Ideal Candidates

  • Positive, self-motivated, curious, and enjoy interacting with people from culturally diverse backgrounds
  • Effective time, schedule, and workload management skills to meet set deadlines
  • Computer skills, namely email and internet proficiency
  • Access to password-protected Wi-Fi connection for data transmissions and administrative responsibilities
  • Institutional data collection experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
