In 2023 Seattle Center is expanding its role to provide operations, maintenance and public safety services for Seattle’s new Waterfront Park, a series of new public spaces on Seattle’s downtown waterfront between Pioneer Square and the Seattle Aquarium. Seattle Center will bring its deep experience successfully managing public space to the waterfront. About this position:
Seattle Center is seeking qualified professionals for an On-call Event Service Representative position. This position will work in an on-call basis depending on event demand and reports to the Campus Manager.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicate with clients and program managers to determine event needs and requirements; provides referrals for services not available through Center staff
- Coordinate and direct Seattle Center personnel engaged in providing event services and support including stage, sound, maintenance, security, and admissions staff
- Oversee schedules, coordination of labor and billing, and public safety practices and measures
- Act as event liaison with Seattle Police and Fire Departments
- Work effectively in strong cross-functional relationships within Seattle Center
- Create Event Service Orders, and disseminate information to all Seattle Center work groups
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in facility management, theater production or business, and a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration, Theater Arts (or a combination of education and/or training and/or work experience which provides the ability to perform the work of the class).
License, Certification, and Other Requirements:
- Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility
Preference will be given for applicants who possess the Desired Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of and experience in the event management industry including extensive experience with conferences, cultural events, trade/consumer shows, concerts, large scale walks and runs and festivals.
- The successful candidate will be a seasoned, organized, unflappable professional who is detail oriented and adept at problem solving under pressure.
- Possess a high level of cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Experience and a high level of patience with event producers, community members and various visual and performing artists.
- Proven ability to get along with, collaborate with and direct a wide range of individuals, interacting with others in a positive, respectful and productive manner.
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience with AutoCAD or Visio is preferred.
- Ability to learn and use in-house event management system.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Candidate must be adept at solving problems under pressure while maintaining composure and interacting with others in a positive and respectful manner.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Requires extended periods of walking and standing
- Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays
Additional Information
The full salary range for this position is $35.74 - $35.74 per hour.
This is an intermittent/on-call position. Hours are dependent on event schedules at Seattle Center.
