NDDOT Starting Salary: $5,215 per month*
- Construction Technician III level may be considered, salary is dependent on experience.

Summary of Work
Aggregate, Bituminous, Concrete, and Soil Assurance Testing:
- Perform Independent Assurance laboratory and field testing.
- Prepare clear and accurate testing results and maintain proper records.
- Evaluate sampling and testing procedures and equipment checks.
- Maintain frequent contact with the testing lab supervisor regarding equipment, requirements, specifications, etc.
Asphalt Mix Design Verification:
- Verify the physical properties of each aggregate component from samples supplied by the Contractor.
- Run sieve analysis of each aggregate component and compare results with Contractor results.
- Determine if all gradation and physical property tests meet the required tolerances.
- Determine the optimum asphalt content of the mixture and determine if it meets the required tolerances.
TTQP Training and Other Duties:
- Make certain acceptance personnel located in Quality Control and Quality Assurance (QC/QA) testing laboratories are fully qualified and capable of conducting the appropriate sampling and testing procedures.
- Administer exams and qualify testing personnel as required in the FS & TM and maintain proper records.
- Perform milestone and miscellaneous coring of roadways within the District boundaries.
Assist Project Personnel:
- Assist in District plans and design; bridge inspection.
- Show new employees resources, frequency of tests, forms, and reporting and filing test results.
District & Field Lab Certification
- Calibration and Maintenance of all testing and engineering equipment.
- Issue and check on the proper care and use of field laboratory and survey equipment.
- Monitor equipment records indicating all repairs and calibration dates for all testing equipment.
- Maintain equipment inventory and calibration records.
- Assure all other laboratory equipment that is used on location is calibrated properly.
- Perform inspection of field labs.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires six years’ work experience related to the engineering technician duties listed. College-level coursework and/or a degree in an engineering or related field reflecting the required abilities for this position may be substituted for the required work experience on a year-for-year basis.
Requires a valid North Dakota Class D driver’s license in order to travel to project location

Currently hold or will obtain, within the first six months of employment, a North Dakota Transportation Technician Qualified Program (NDTTQP) Level III tester certification and maintain it in the following areas:

Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors and in all types of weather on a variety of uneven or slippery surfaces; traffic and machinery hazards may be present or occur, safety training provided; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and carry several items with a total weight of 50 pounds; physical mobility, agility, and mental alertness compatible with an office setting and a construction project or maintenance/shop setting; extended periods of standing, stairs, up and down, exposure to noise, chemicals, dust, smoke, and fumes. Ability to work closely with people; some contact with the public; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and others; ability to function with minimal supervision.
