A Circuit Rider interprets, reviews, analyzes and explains policies, rules, regulations, legislation, and laws related to rural and small water systems. They consult with staff and others in government, business, and private organizations to discuss issues, coordinate activities, and resolve problems for rural and small water systems. They initiate and review findings of investigations, surveys, and studies to compare and evaluate possible courses of action and formulate policies and techniques that can be used to recommend improvements for management policies or operations of rural and small water systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Water Distribution License; Water treatment license a plus
- At least 5 years experience in the water utility industry.
- Valid US Driver’s License
- Geographically located within or directly adjacent to the low-country region of SC
- Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel extensively state-wide
Compensation:
- Starting salary range: $45,000 to $55,000 depending on experience.

Energy Auditor

The responsibilities of the Energy Auditor include the completion of a minimum of 30 Water / Wastewater Utility Energy Audits annually and 5 Energy Implementation Visits. Each audit includes completion of an energy report to include analysis of energy usage and description of current energy charges, basic energy efficiency recommendations project/action summary, projected savings and ROI, available funding mechanisms and projected costs. Audits will be conducted on-site at water and wastewater utilities state-wide.
Participation in public speaking engagements and delivery of energy related training is an expectation of the position. The Energy Auditor is also expected to attend monthly staff and team meetings, attend Association conferences and events, and represent the Association during applicable agency and partner meetings and workshops.
Extensive in-state and limited amount of travel out-of-state is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
**On-the-job Energy auditing training and the opportunity to earn a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) credential will be available to the accepted candidate.
Background in an electrical or energy field with understanding of the energy auditing process OR a background in basic electrical maintenance for a water or wastewater utility combined with an overall interest in the electrical field.
Valid US Driver’s License.
Reliable vehicle and willingness to travel extensively state-wide. Some overnight travel may be required.
Compensation:
- Starting salary range: $40,000 to $60,000 depending on experience.

Water/Wastewater Trainer

The ideal candidate should be a charismatic and outgoing individual who is extremely comfortable speaking in front of diverse groups in a classroom and onsite training environment. The ability to understand and relate complex training topics is critical. The trainer will use developed curriculum and teaching aids to create an interesting and adaptive ‘hands-on’ training experience for training attendees. The trainer will also issue certifications and maintain proper records of training events to be submitted to the Training Coordinator. The trainer will also be required to plan for and provide drinks, lunches and snacks as applicable for most training sessions. The ability to be fiscally responsible with a training budget is critical.

What you'll do
- Coordinate all compliance initiatives with Operations Management and HSE Management.
- Track, monitor and coordinate all internal HSE Maintenance requirements to ensure compliance.
- Track, monitor and coordinate all sampling and reporting requirements for water and wastewater utility service.
- Implement new maintenance initiatives/programs with Operations Management
- Coordinate permit application, renewal, and/or transfers as appropriate.
- Monitor and support monthly DMR completion and submission.

Experience: 2 – 4 years of progressive experience in the water and/or wastewater utility business or related field.
Education and Certifications
- HS Diploma or G.E.D.
- Valid driver’s license
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
- Certified Safety Professional, OSHA 30-hour course, Operator certification(s) in water and/or wastewater
- Familiarity with Oracle Fusion, CC&B, SCADA, GIS, MS Visio
