Full Description
- Manage and develop project budgets, scope, schedule, and authorities, in conjunction with appropriate parties.
- Coordinates with private contracting firms to accomplish tasks beyond the technical capabilities and/or in excess of the manpower or equipment availability of Campus Maintenance.
- Manage and oversee delivery of multiple simultaneous construction and/or maintenance projects.
- Provide Quality Control and Quality Assurance on multi-trade work orders, projects, and work performed by contractors.
- Ensure that services are provided to the University community that are of high quality, effective, and in compliance with applicable code, regulations, and industry standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, plus relevant progressively responsible experience in construction field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Record of progressively responsible operational management experience in a large, multi-building environment.
- Demonstrated experience in resource (personnel and budget) supervision and management.
- Experience in multi-trade work management including work coordination, materials procurement, and contractor management.
- Ability to use database system and other programs to provide reports and updates regarding project progress.
- Demonstrated experience with quality customer service.
- Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) information management, work management, scheduling, and report on work order progress.
- Experience in a public institution environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience using AIM (CMMS System)
- Knowledge and ability to apply the principles, practices, technologies, and techniques of all aspects of maintenance, renovation, construction, and reconstruction to devise practical solutions to complex problems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sustainable building and maintenance practices and processes.
- Demonstrated successful project management skills including estimating: project coordination and analysis, and contract management.
Additionally, the successful candidate will have the following abilities:

- Establish effective working relations as a team member.
- Work effectively with multiple departments across campus.
- Use Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of audiences.
- Provide strong leadership.
- Represent the department and MSU to others in a professional and courteous manner.
Incumbent will attend and participate in required training for the use of personal protective equipment and comply with requirements for use of employer provided equipment.
