Nature of Work


Department of Homeland Security/Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR)/Mt. Olive Correctional Complex/Fayette Co.-Under general supervision, performs full-performance duties of a Corrections Facility Coordinator 1 overseeing the activities of State Shop and inmate workers. Work is reviewed by CFC2 through results produced through meetings to evaluate input. Performs related work as required. CFC 1 makes work assignments, reviews employees work, and compiles reports on section's activities in addition to performing tasks similar to their employees. In some instances, may perform related work of a more advanced level than subordinates. Direct inmate contact in an all male maximum security prison. Ensures accuracy. Trains employees in proper work methods. Ensures that equipment, supplies, and materials are available to complete work. Inspects work area to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner. Answers inquiries from employees; relays information from management. Knowledge of office methods and procedures and inspection practices or procedures. Knowledge of departmental procedures and policies. Ability to plan, assign, and coordinate the work of employees. Ability to make decisions based on governing laws and regulations and to explain policies to subordinates. Direct inmate contact. This position can be a rotating position rotating between different sections of operations including Laundry, Warehouse, and the Barber Shop. Performs other duties assigned. Assist in security post as needed. (0608P01062)

Minimum Qualifications

Training: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience: Four years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in the area of assignment, one year of which must have been in a lead worker capacity.

Substitution: Coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis for up to four years of experience.
