The Commission on Gender Equity (CGE) is leading the City’s efforts to make sure every girl, woman, transgender, and gender non-binary individual throughout the five boroughs is treated equally and feels safe. We are putting the full force of municipal government, the city’s largest employer, to work on behalf of this cause. CGE works collaboratively with City agencies on three focus areas: economic mobility and opportunity, health and reproductive justice, and safety.

About the Role
The Operations Manager is a member of CGE’s leadership team and supports the Chairperson by developing and implementing operating systems and accountability metrics to ensure accomplishments of CGE’s goals and smooth, effective, and efficient agency operations. The Operations Manager reports to CGE’s Chairperson and Executive Director.

The Commission on Gender Equity (CGE) is recruiting for an Administrative Staff Analyst NM-II to function as an Operations Manager who will:

  • Oversee and manage CGE’s annual planning and implementation processes.

  • Develop and maintain systems that facilitate and support collaboration across CGE’s departments: Chairperson’s Office, External Affairs, Policy and Programs, Strategic Learning and Capacity Building.

  • Coordinate CGE Commissioners’ Meetings and oversee communication with CGE Commissioners.

  • Serve as CGE’s representative to the Mayor’s Office entities and Deputy Mayors’ Offices.

  • Serve and CGE’s representative on citywide administrative and/or operational actions.

  • Manage CGE’s personnel, purchasing, and financial operations.

  • Coordinate and oversee on-boarding process for all CGE staff, interns, and third-partner vendors.

  • In partnership with the Chairperson develop and implement CGE’s fundraising agenda to increase grant funding from private foundations.

  • Represent CGE, as appropriate, at internal and external meetings, workgroups and/or Task Forces.

  • Supervise staff as appropriate.

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field, and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area. 18 months of this experience must have been in an executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity. Supervision must have included supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above; or

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and four years of professional experience in the areas described in "1" above, including the 18 months of executive, managerial, administrative or supervisory experience, as described in "1" above.

Preferred Skills

  • The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of managerial and/or supervisory experience.

  • A strong background in the gender equity field, including a demonstrated ability to work across racial, ethnic, gender and sexual diversity.

  • Demonstrated project and relationship management experience.

  • Proven experience working effectively with the senior management level with diverse internal and external stakeholders and constituencies.

  • An ability to think creatively, embrace new approaches and pioneer innovative solutions to intricate problems, while working collaboratively with a diverse constituencies.

  • Experience in at least one City agency, state or federal government, and/or significant experience in the non-profit, or social services sector.

  • Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail.

  • Ability to synthesize and distill complex material into actionable recommendations.

  • An energetic and self-starter mindset be organized and results-oriented and be a strong team player.
