Under the direct supervision of the APSU University Advancement office and in coordination with the APSU Athletics Director this position is charged with raising private gifts for Austin Peay State University Athletics.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The Univesity has an enrollment of over 10,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 150,287 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The Univesity has an enrollment of over 10,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 150,287 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
- Plan and execute a development plan, which includes identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors ($10,000+), while working independently or collaboratively with volunteers.
- Manage a major gift prospect base of between 100-125 qualified major gift prospects including those top prospects requiring attention from the APSU Director of Athletics, Vice President of University Advancement or APSU President.
- Execute 20-25 contacts per month with at least half being personal, direct contact.
- Document contacts and adhere to policies and procedures for accepting, recording and acknowledging gifts.
- Coordinate and serve as liaison for the APSU Foundation Athletic Subcommittee
- Work closely with Athletic Department, Alumni, and Advancement offices to maximize the fundraising potential of the university through participation in events or meetings.
- Attend university athletic events.
- Stewardship of endowed scholarships for athletics.
- Results-oriented with professional characteristics that include leadership, commitment to confidentiality, flexibility, team-orientation, attention to detail and sensitivity to the stewardship of long-term relationships.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; negotiation skills, proven success in goal achievement.
- Ability to efficiently operate a personal computer.
- Ability to travel extensively overnight and occasional weekends.
- Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of one year of fundraising, sales, marketing, or related experience.
- A background and credit history check will be required of the successful applicant.
