Core Responsibilities:

  • Act as an integral member of departmental leadership team focusing on cross-program, cross-division and department-wide issues and initiatives.
  • Serve as an advocate for clients and customers of the department, and keep stakeholders and advocates informed.
  • Exercise proper financial control over budgetary expenditures.
  • Ensure consistent interpretation of county code, policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with management and staff within the county, elected officials, community stakeholders and the public.
  • Oversee grant proposals, internal agency operations, and various continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Represent the county before local government bodies and community organizations.
  • Continue to build a culture of collaboration and teamwork to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage special projects critical to the department’s success.
  • Act as Director of Human Services in the Director’s absence.
  • Perform other job functions as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Business or Public Administration, or related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible management experience, including three years in a supervisory capacity OR any equivalent combination of education and experience which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position is required.
