Do you want to be part of one of the best Land Survey groups in Alaska?

The Division of Mining, Land & Water, Land Survey Section in the Anchorage office has an opening in the Survey Subdivision Unit for a Land Surveyor 1/2. We are looking for applicants who have a good attitude, experience in land planning, subdivision development, and are motivated to excel as part of a team of dedicated surveyors working for the people of Alaska. If this interests you, please apply for this position.

MISSION AND CULTURE
The DNR mission is "To provide for the appropriate use and management of Alaska's state-owned land and water, aiming toward maximum use consistent with the public interest.”

The Survey Section provides surveying services to manage and maximize the use of more than 100 million acres of state-owned land. Boundary disputes, easement vacations, subdivisions, and the development of state land all require the professional services of the DNR Land Survey Section.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
This position helps develop remote subdivision projects throughout Alaska, from the very beginning through completion. From conducting site evaluations to determine viability and appropriate designs to negotiation with municipalities or other agencies for development requirements, to designing site plans, collaborating and working with other professional disciplines, and creating contracts for the surveying of these subdivisions, to the final plat review.

If you like to turn remote land into ideal parcels to support Alaskans' dreams of remote land ownership, and want to focus solely on designing and developing, free from the constraints of running a business, this is the job for you.

Projects generally range between 20 acres to 1,000 acres, are located throughout Alaska, and support the Remote Subdivision Program.

THE BENEFITS OF JOINING OUR TEAM
The DNR Survey Section is a team of 18 staff including 14 Professional Land Surveyors who are dedicated to providing superior surveying services to the State and the people of Alaska. Complex survey issues are frequently collaboratively discussed so that decisions are well reasoned and insightful. Our culture encourages a collaborative approach to projects and mentors’ staff to increase knowledge and professional advancement.

Professional training opportunities are encouraged and are generally paid for by the State.

The position has a 37.5-hour work week with a flexible schedule.

THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT YOU CAN EXPECT
Located in the Atwood Building in beautiful downtown Anchorage, this position has a cubical with a south-facing window. The DNR Survey Section’s culture focuses on collaboration and communication in an inclusive work environment. We focus on people’s strengths and continued professional development.

This position requires occasional travel within the State of Alaska. Travel will occur approximately once a month for 2-5 days.
