JOB SUMMARY


The Health, Safety, Environmental and Training (HSET) Manager is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the occupational health, safety, environmental, and training programs to ensure operational excellence throughout the Company. This position works with the HSET Director and department personnel to oversee fieldwide support and leadership and to develop policies and procedures for maintaining a safe work environment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


  • Manage and provide leadership and support for the field HSET team with a strong focus on collaboration the operation leadership to support the overall business.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain HSE programs, policies, and procedures with a focus on field level support to in coordination with the operations team and the HSET Director and department personnel.
  • Support Company training program and personnel training requirements.
  • Perform facility inspections to identify potential health, safety, and environmental hazards.
  • Investigate and document accidents, injuries, and unsafe workplace conditions and practices.
  • Prepare incident reports and update all applicable databases and spreadsheets to maintain accurate records.
  • Develop and implement solutions to mitigate identified workplace safety hazards.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Alaska Workers’ Compensation Law, OSHA recordkeeping guidelines and provide case management.
  • Supervise and provide mentoring to department personnel and Operations Teams to ensure safe operations and compliance with company and client programs.
  • Provide leadership to sustain and continue to expand the strong focus of safety and team accountability that is part of AES’ culture and ASPIRE values.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or safety-related field with a minimum of five years safety experience in the oil and gas, mining or construction industry preferred. A combination of 10 years education, HSET training, and safety experience in lieu of the bachelor’s degree and an additional five years safety related experience may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS


  • Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification required. Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred. A master’s degree in related field may be considered in lieu of certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management software preferred.
  • North Slope experience preferred.

The work environment is in a busy office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may be required to travel in small and large commercial aircraft to and from the North Slope of Alaska.
