Full Description
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Architectural Historian for immediate employment in the Atlanta, GA office. The candidate will join an excellent team with significant career growth potential. This Architectural Historian position will support the multi-discipline environmental group in Transportation. This candidate will perform tasks ranging from fieldwork, research, report writing, data collection and compilation, and GIS mapping among other duties.
The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
+ Performing unsupervised field tasks, such as historic resource surveys and research (i.e. web-based, archival, deed, literary, interviews, etc.).
+ Gathering data and other information to be used in the preparation of environmental reports of investigations; compiling and organizing data collected by others.
+ Preparing reports including: Historic Resource Survey Reports, Assessment of Effects, Findings of No Historic Properties Affected, Photographic Permanent Archival Records, HABS/HAER documentation, and more.
+ Preparing data and scientific documents to include maps/figures, technical reports, agency coordination, Memoranda of Agreement/Understanding (MOAs/MOUs), and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.
+ Working under the supervision of senior staff but capable of completing all but the most complex tasks with minimal supervision.
+ Assisting senior staff with business development for the Transportation Group.
+ Conducting interdisciplinary collaboration with engineers and assorted environmental specialists.

Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or related field.
+ Meets Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History.
+ 2 or more years of professional experience in Cultural Resource Management (CRM) and historic preservation, including ability to work on a wide range of projects, within interdisciplinary teams, and balance a demanding workload.
+ 2 or more years of experience with Federal and State CRM requirements, processes, and guidance, including Sections 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), National Park Service (NPS) National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) bulletins, Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties, and the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA).
+ 2 or more years of experience with applying NRHP eligibility criteria and aspects of integrity to historic resources.
+ 1 or more years of experience performing historic resources field surveys and preparing reports for transportation projects administered by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT).
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in Architectural History, History, Historic Preservation, or related field.
+ Experience performing historic resources surveys and preparing reports for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), and/or Federal Transit Administration (FTA).
+ Experience coordinating historic resource evaluations and assessments with the Georgia State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and receiving concurrence.
+ Familiarity with Google Earth Pro, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu, ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap.
+ Experience reading and interpreting transportation plans.
+ Experience applying the Criteria of Adverse Effect under Section 106 and preparing Assessment of Effects reports.
+ High degree of professionalism, self-motivation, attention to detail, and desire to work in a collaborative team environment.
+ Excellent communication skills, including both written and oral expertise. Ability to work independently but to communicate activities/progress to team members and management. Self-motivate
