Job Order Hourly Pay Rate: $15.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application)

This temporary position will assigned to the Department of Transportation Division DMV RM HQ Section- CDL. This position supports the division's mission vision by carrying out all required functions for the Commercial Driver License (CDL) Compliance Section. This includes answering telephone calls from North Carolina Driver License Examiners (DLE), Third Party Testers (TPT) and Examiners (TPE), Truck Driver Training Schools (TDTS), trucking companies, other states and the general public relating to Commercial Driver License (CDL). Perform a full range of office duties including but not limited to reviewing driving records, scheduling appointments, answering questions either in person or by telephone, completing daily reports and correspondence, maintaining all required reports within their assigned areas, pickup, and distribution of supplies to offices when needed, and troubleshooting problem situations. This position is often assigned special assignments by the Program Supervisor II and Director of Driver Services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Experience in customer service to a diverse clientele and/or other agency contacts
  • Experience analyzing, interpreting, and recommending policy and procedural guidelines
  • Experience in disseminating accurate information with confidentiality
  • Experience in an office environment maintaining and updating files, records, and reports, organizing, and coordinating workflow and activities
  • Basic Microsoft Word, Excel skills and MS Office in general
  • Ability to prepare records and reports, enter payroll, maintain inventory and file
  • Able to lift and /or carry equipment/supplies, stoop, bend and sit or stand for long periods of time

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
